Day 35

148.6!  Can’t beleive it.  On 1/1/07 I was 178…scary.  Almost 30 lbs heavier than I am today.  I’m starting to feel so much better.  I am definitely a size 10 now.  No more 12s or 14s.   Another month and I will be in the single digits.

When people ask me how much I have “lost” I am going to say I haven’t “lost” anything, I have REMOVED 30 lbs.  :)   I don’t plan on finding them any time soon.  :)

Got my turbo jam videos in the mail, can’t wait to try them.

Day 29

150.2 this morning.  So that means I’m .2 lbs away from hitting my goal for the first month.  Last night I was trying to figure out the last time I was under 150.  I think it was over 5 years ago, during my divorce.  That seems like so long ago.   So 14.8 lbs down this month and 27.8 down since the heighest weight.  30lbs (ish) to go!

The other day I saw a woman at the gym and I really liked the way she looked, toned but not too skinny.  She was about my height and age.  As we were leaving I saw her and her husband and I stopped her and asked her if I could ask her a personal question. She was very nice and said ’sure’.  So I exlpained that I thought we were about the same height and told her about my weight loss and how I have a goal but I have no idea what the number even looks like.  She told me she weighted about 115.  I was thinking more like 120 because she definitely had quite a bit of muscle.  She was VERY nice about it…I told her that she had inspired me to keep working out.  It’s true..she had.  I can now visualize what I might look like in a few months.

Hopefully one day, somoene will stop me and ask me how I did it or something similar.  :)

Day 27

Finally broke down and bought a scale.  Even though it’s that wonderful time of month, I couldn’t help myself…I finally got on the thing.  I calibrated it last night at my sister’s house so that it’s accurate against what I used 2 weeks ago.

Are you ready for this?  This am I weight 151.5!  I can NOT believe it.  That was even after a cup of coffee.  I am almost in the 140s.  So…by my guestimate, I have lost about 13.5 lbs in a less than a month.  I’m hoping to hit the 15lb mark for the first month.  How cool would that be!

Went to gym yesterday and did 60 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I’m actually starting to like it.  OMG…I can’t believe I said that.  I will be adding some light strength training to my workouts starting today.  Should be interesting.

Gotta go get in shower and ready for hockey practice.

Day 25

Ok..have to go to Peter Piper Pizza tonight for a little party.  I just checked the calories for their pizza and it looks like a thin Ham/Pineapple pizza is 130 calories for 1 slice.  I’m going to do one slice for something a bit different.

My clothes are getting baggier so I know I”m losing.  I did 60 minutes of cardio yesterday and 45 minutes this morning.  Yeah for me.  I actually kind of…(KIND OF) like it.

My mom is down to 138.5!  That is so awesome ..she started at 155 5 weeks ago.  My BIL is down 28 lbs in 5 weeks…that’s crazy.

Day 22

Entire family went to the gym last night again.  It was really nice to be all doing this together.  Son did weights with Andy and then a bit of cardio.  Daughter and I did cardio.

Almost can’t wear the clothes I bought for myself 2 months ago.

Yesterday was an easy day on the diet because I was teaching all day.  The only bad thing was we ate dinner too late (8pm).  Next time we need to either workout earlier or eat before we go (not sure how well that will work out).

Mom is still going strong…she’s been on it for over a month now and is down about 16 lbs.  She said she can’t seem to the break the 140 mark.  She’s only been stuck there for 2 days.  :)   Impatient we are.  I haven’t weighed myself so I have no idea how I’m doing weight wise, I just know my clothes are pretty darn baggy and I feel a LOT, LOT better.

My mom, sister and Brother-In-Law have all switched to Dr. Siegal’s cookies.  I guess they got frustrated with the $150 (each) monthly fee and Dr. visit when all they really did was weight them.  Seems like a lot to pay to be weighed each week.  Plus, I’m convinced Dr. Siegal’s cookies taste better.  :)

Day 21

Yep..made it 21 days so far and going strong.  I have to admit this diet is EASY now.  I’m feeling better than I have in about 5 years.  Although my scale is still broken, I feel as though I’m down about 10 lbs so far.

Yesterday (Sunday) when I woke up…I felt like getting out and rollerblading.  Can you believe it?  On a Sunday…in the morning.  So I went.  It was nice, it’s so very hot here but the am is pretty decent.  I went for about 45 minutes and according to my heart rate monitor I burned approx 345 calories.

New Lifestyle for the whole family

Both of my kids are home now (yeah!!!) and life is returning to normal but life as we once knew it is a thing of the past.  My son (12) is a true athlete.  He plays travel hockey, skateboards, snowboards and now even surfs.  He’s always on the go.  He noticed that I have been more active lately and asked if he could start working out with me.  So now that he is 12, he can come upstairs at the gym and start learning about weights and all the cardio machines.  We will start him off very slowly with the weights because I feel that his body is in a transitional period (pre-puberty) and he’s not quite ready for ‘real’ weight workouts.  Andy (my man) knows quite a bit about strength training and took him on Saturday and showed him the ropes.  I was on the elliptical machine the entire time and then they both joined me.

Of course my son did the cardio with no problem.  I had him start out at only 20 minutes and he laughed when he was done…’That’s it?’ he asked.   Little brat…lol.   Yeah, that’s it for today.   Again, wanted him to ease into it.

Now here’s the best news.  My daughter (10) came home on Saturday night.  We hugged when we say each other and she immediately pulls away and said “Mommy…you are so tiny!”.  I thought that was so sweet.  She could tell I have lost weight.

She’s very tall for her age and will most likely be around 5′9 or taller as she takes after her Dad (6′6″).  I’m only 5′2″ .  When she was younger and a bit more active in gymnastics she was a normal weight for a tall girl.  Over the past year, she hasn’t really been very active and is probably  5-10 lbs overweight.  I would never tell her this because I don’t want her to start having ‘issues’.  But this past year was a bit of a struggle for her.  She’s very, very pretty….long dark hair and big brown eyes but most girls in her class are stick skinny.  She started having issues about the clothes she would wear to school and although she never mentioned the weight I knew that it bothered her.

I blame myself.  We ate way too much fast food (chicken strips from McDonalds with ranch is one of the worst things a kid could eat).  She wasn’t in gymnastics any longer, etc.

Well the best thing happened.  Once she saw me at the airport and found out we have been excersicing she ASKED to go to gym with us.  She and I went shopping at the grocery store for her schoo lunches (school starts today) and she picked out ALL healthy foods, fruits, low fat yogurt, lean turkey, etc.  I didn’t say a word.  It seems I might have inspired her a bit to be healthier.

Then as a family we ALL went to the gym.  It was fantastic, my son jumped on the ellipical machine and he was off and running.  I help my daughter learn about the machine and showed her how to go easy on it.  I set a goal of 20 minutes for us.  When she got to 20, she wanted to go another 5 ..kids.

Then we went to the tread mill and she started walking briskley on that and did a mile!  It was so nice, she and I were just hanging out talking..getting caught up on life while we walked on the treadmill.  It was awesome.

The true test is when we got home.  She said she was hungry and went straight to the fridge.  I didn’t say a word and just watched.  She grabbed grapes and some strawberries.  I then made both of us a nice little pre-made chicken breast thing and we had a wonderful healthy dinner.

She wanted to know when we can go back to the gym.  As much as I am excited for her, I know this is a very delicate subject.  I have to be soooo careful that she does not put herself on a diet but sees this as healthy lifestyle.  Girls at this age are so very impressionable.  I really do want to seek professional advice on how to handle this.  I honestly could care less if she lost the weight or not, as long as she feels good about herself and is HEALTHY.  That’s the biggest thing for me.

So we will all be going together on M/W/F..the days my son is not at hockey practice.  She has also asked to play soccer this year which is awesome!  I love her so much.
